Ask A Legal Question For Free

What do you enjoy most about your job? Least?

It took me several years earlier I was at a stage where I had been making the kind of cash that I would have made if I stayed in corporate legislation. The last few years have exceeded if I hadn't moved, what I'd probably be earning, but it was definitely a financial sacrifice for a time period.

Can you see a prejudice against people who attend law school later in life?

In summary, yes, later-in-life pupils can occasionally feel a little out of place with the younger crowd. But they have a distinct advantage that most of the straight-through pupils do not--a bit more life in the mirror. That experience will help from day one in law school. Professors will often rely on and seek out those students to draw on the student work ethic along with that knowledge. As soon as a law firm reviews a résumé in the pupil, it's going to have immediate assurance that the graduate is prepared to add instant value and ready beyond the scholarly world. What is the most effective means to have work?

So keep all this in mind, like the procedure (you are going to learn a great deal along the way), and great luck with your hunt! --Barbara Kott

Do you really have to drive yourself into the ground the first few years of training to create it?

The practice of law is a competitive undertaking. You will be charged with representing your clients' interest rates, and so will the other hand. Whether it's matter or a lawsuitthere are market-based client-drivenyou will need to spend getting the task done. And trust me, you won't do if you don't rise to the occasion and meet with the requirements imposed by either these factors or the behaviour of your opposition.

Was there anything you wanted you would have done differently in law school that you didn't realize until you began to practice?

I'm glad I didn't buy commercial outlines prior to after the initial semester. I am glad I struggled to work out the history and facts and had to spot the issues. Yes, I could have had more sleep and quiet crying in my cubicle at work, but still training my mind to figure those things out was a advantage in the future. I was fulfilled my case-reading skills were nice after my ranges came in, and I purchased some commercial outlines to help me. There aren't any commercial outlines when I read cases today, and I do just fine without them.
